2/24/2023 0 Comments Denver tiltshift![]() ![]() ![]() I don't think a 24mm TS lens would have helped you here, because in order to fill the frame, you would probably still have to stand fairly close. Rudi, what focal length did you use for your image of Zaoudou below? I'm no expert regarding architectural photography or TS lenses, but it seems to me you were standing too close to the base of the structure with a wide-angle lens, which forced you to shoot upward, and this caused the excessive distortion.Īlso, I've looked at some other online images of the building, and they reveal that there is a high rooftop which is hidden behind the upper overhang in your image due to the low, close point of view. i would start there with digital perspective control (which crops the "heck" out of images). Dorky, ugly, stupid-to-use, but *really* sharp is the Samyang 14mm f2.8. Allow me to add: in addition to the f1.8Gs, i have another broadsword in the bag. And the 24mm PCE is where i would start.īut if they were satisfied with screen shots. If i shot for pay anymore - and my customers included, say, architectural shots - i would bet money that Nikon engineers could do better. I, for one, *know* that digital image perspective control dramatically reduces resolution. Īnd you (implicitly) ask if untold hours of Nikon optical engineering to make the image circle enlarged for the express purpose of permitting tilt and shift has an effect on delivered resolution for the "stretched" image? i am guessing "yes" but, hey, it may be a conspiracy that i have bought into. ![]() So i strive to do so (when needed) with a light touch. and when i go into DXO's perspective control feature i am absolutely elongating those pixels. When i shoot resolution (on my now pedestrian 24mp d600) i grab my my collection of f1.8gs, and do not ever lust for the zooms that you cite.īut i know that the far corners are the most optically stresssed. ![]()
